VP Engineering - Hardware
With over 22 years’ of experience in the telecom business, most of it creating and managing new ventures, Anwar is what you might call a serial wireless entrepreneur. As a Co-Founder and President of telematics leader WebTech Wireless, he grew it from a tiny start-up to over $50M in sales. Prior to that, he had a successful international career with several wireless leaders such as Motorola. At Saturna, Anwar is once again providing the vision and leadership to create innovative wireless products for the needs of a new industry. Anwar holds a M.Sc. Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
At Saturna, Tarek fills the key role of looking after our hardware development. His skills at defining, sourcing, designing and manufacturing system components of advanced complexity, such as our on-vehicle digital dashboard and location devices, are the result of not only being just plain smart, but also years’ of experience as Hardware Engineering Manager at Webtech Wireless and RF Engineer at VTech Engineering Canada. Tarek has a B.Tech. (Hons) Engineering, from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Juliet brings valuable management and corporate finance experience to Saturna, gained through progressive executive roles with, among others, Vancouver-based companies Peace Arch Entertainment and WebTech Wireless. With both of these organizations, Juliet was instrumental in establishing them as highly regarded and successful companies in their fields. Juliet has also been involved with a number of projects in the media, journalism and social change spheres – interests and vision which she now brings to Saturna.
Daniel is our director of operations, he brings to Saturna the preciuos knowledge acquired during his over 15 years of industry experience in electronics manufacturing and operations. During his 8 years at WebTech Wireless, 6 of them as a Production Manager, Daniel was able to stand out thanks to a proven record of met deadlines and delieveries. Daniel has a BSc in Physics from the University of British Columbia and a Electronics Engineering Technology Diploma (Computer Control option) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
During his 5 years as a Product Manager for Vespa and Scarabeo, the most representative brands of Europe's leading manufacturer Piaggio, Marco was in charge of the development of all the new models, such as Vespa Primavera, Vespa Sprint and Scarabeo Small, from concept to market launch. During his time in Piaggio, Vespa brand sales were raised by over 35%,overtaking 180.000 units per year. After his experience at Piaggio, Marco moved to Canada fascinated by Saturna's project and its huge potential. Marco has a Communication degree and an MBA from LUISS Business School in Rome.
In his 20 years' of engineering development experience, Juhani has designed software systems at all levels; from embedded assembler to highly scalable, fault-tolerant web portals, capable of processing hundreds of transactions per second from many thousands of users and mobile devices. In his most recent role as Director of Research at Webtech Wireless, Juhani was responsible for leading product innovation, road mapping and planning; as well as development process modernization. Juhani has a BASc in Engineering Physics (Mechanical Engineering option) and a MASc in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from McGill University.
